Ingrediants:-
- Dondakaya /Kovakai - 2 cups (cut lengthwise)
- Chilli powder -1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder-1/4 tsp
- Turmeric Powder-a pinch
- Coconut -2 tbsp (Grated)
- Salt
- Mustard seed-1/4 tsp
- Dry red chillies-2
- Curry leaves- a spring
- Oil
- In a pan add oil and let the oil heat up once the oil heats add mustard seeds allow it to splutter,then add red chillies and curry leaves.
- Add the kovakai and salt to this and saute for 5 mins and cook covered for another 5 mins in sim without adding water.stir in between..At this stage the kovakai will become slightly brown
- Now sprinkle some water (just enough to cook the veggie)cook covered till kovakai is done.
- Cook uncovered till the excess water evaporates.
- Now add the chilli powder,cumin powder,turmeric and saute for few mins...
- Add coconut and saute for few more mins.....
- Serve with rice as a side dish...
