Cabbage Kofta Curry ( Baked Version)



Recipe Adapted from :- manjula's kitchen

Ingredients:-
For Koftas:-


  • Cabbage (Shredded / chopped finely) - 4 cups
  • Besan -3/4 to 1 cup
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Green chilli - 1 ( finely chopped)
  • Chilli powder- 1/4 tsp (optional)
  • Coriander leaves - few tbsp ( finely chopped)
  • Salt
For the Gravy:-
  • Tomatoes -3
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Besan -1 tbsp
  • Hing - a big pinch
  • Cumin Seeds - 1tsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 3/4 tsp
  • Paprika - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  • Curd - 3 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves / Cilantro - a few tbsp
  • Salt
  • oil
Method:-
To make Koftas:-
  1. In a bowl add Cabbage, Ginger Garlic paste,green chilli, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander leaves,salt and besan. Mix this without adding any water ( the cabbage will let out it's own water when mixed).
  2. Now make small lime sized balls of  cabbage koftas .and bake it @ 350 deg for 15 to 20 mins or until slightly brown. ( u can also deep fry this koftas)
To make the Gravy:-
  1.  Grind the tomatoes and green chilli to a smooth paste.
  2. In a pan heat oil and season with hing, cumin seeds ..
  3. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for few secs..
  4. Now add the besan and fry for few more mins.
  5. Add in the tomato-chilli paste and let it simmer till oil ouches out on top and it's reduced to almost  half..
  6. now add  in chilli powder ,coriander powder ,turmeric powder ,salt and saute again few mins..
  7. Add 2 cups of water and cook covered till it comes to a boil..
  8. Add in the baked Koftas to this gravy and let it come to a boil again..
  9. Cook covered in low flame for 10 mins or until gravy reaches desired consistency..
  10. Add in lots of chopped Coriander/ Cilantro leaves and switch off the flame..

this goes well with rotis, parathas,pulav etc..
