ven pongal




Ingrediants:-
Raw rice- 1cup
moong dal-1/4 cup
pepper corns -1.5tsp
cumin seeds -1 tsp
ginger - 2tsp(finely chopped)
cashews -10 broken
ghee
curry leaves-a spring
mustard seed -1/2 tsp
ghee -1/4 cup
Preparation:-
In a pressure cooker add the ghee and roast the cashews and keep it aside.then add mustard seed let it crackle ,then add cumin seeds,peppercorns,ginger curry leaves and saute well.now add the pre washed rice and dal and add water 4cups of water for 1cup rice and 1/4 cup dal.add salt and pressure cook it till 4 whistles on med high flame.wait till the pressure releases .open the cooker smash the rice lightly with the laddle (don't worry about smashing the rice) add the fried cashews serve with sambar,chutney and vada for a ideal south indian breakfast...
