Spinach and dal curry (parupu keerai)




Ingrediants:-
Spinach -3 cups (roughly chopped)
Toor dal-1/2 cup
onion -1 small
tomato -1
g.chillies -2(slitted)
garlic pods-2(crushed)
hing- a pinch
To grind:-(to a smooth paste)
coconut -1tbsp (grated)
chilli pwdr-1 tsp
cumin seed-1/2 tsp
turmeric pwdr-1/4 tsp
Seasoning:-
mustard seed-1/2tsp
dry red chillies-2
curry leaves- 1 spring
oil
Method:-
pressure cook the daal.add the spinach,onion,tomato,g.chillies,garlic,hing along with the daal and pressure cook again till one whistle.add the coconut paste and salt.
for seasoning :-
In another pan add oil wait till it is hot add mustard seed let it splutter.add the chillies and curry leaves .
add the seasoning to the daal curry and serve hot with rice and little ghee..this is one of the kid friendly food...
